Improve the quality of concrete and mortar

Use sealing additives to increase the strength of building materials, their waterproofing and frost resistance.

Additives to increase the strength of concrete and mortar

Microsilica and metakaolin are sealing additives used in the production of concrete, mortar and other materials. Thanks to their properties, they make it possible to create a strong structure for building materials. Their use as additives in concrete and mortar leads to, among other things, an increase in their durability, watertightness and frost resistance.

HP-I microsilica (min. 95% SiO2) is a premium product designed to provide stable properties and minimal impurities. It is ideal for use in refractory materials such as concretes with low and very low cement content.

Microsilica is a by-product resulting from the production of ferroalloys. Replacing 15% of cement with microsilica increases the tightness of concrete by dozens of times. At the same time the compressive strength increases by 20% and absorption capacity drops to a third.

Metakaolin is a mineral that is formed by dehydrating natural kaolinite at 700-800°C. Its unique properties make it a valuable ingredient in the production of concretes, mortars and in many other applications that affect the quality and durability of structures.

Concrete additives to increase strength, waterproofing and frost resistance

Concrete is one of the most popular building materials. It is a composite with exceptional parameters, which is formed by combining, among other things, cement, aggregate and water. Hardened concrete is characterized by strength, waterproofing, water absorption, frost resistance and abrasion resistance – very good properties that make this material widely used in construction, but nowadays engineers are looking for more and more modern methods of strengthening concrete to further increase its durability and resistance to various atmospheric factors. The answer is special concrete admixtures, which are substances that act on the components of concrete mixtures to provide greater construction and design options.

Admixtures for concrete

Admixtures for concrete are designed to improve its properties. They are diverse, but mainly focus on increasing plasticity, reducing production costs and improving durability. Modern additives can also increase concrete’s resistance to chemicals and reduce its shrinkage during curing. The ones we recommend at Mikrosilika Trade are:

Microsilica

Microsilica is one of the latest innovations among concrete additives. Added to the mix at up to 15%, it significantly increases concrete’s tightness, strength and resistance to mechanical damage. Microsilica acts at the level of the concrete’s microstructure, strengthening it and improving its mechanical performance at the same time. It is an essential ingredient in the design of high-value concretes.

Metakaolin

Metakaolin is a type of aluminum silicate, which is an excellentfrost additive for concrete. It is an ingredient in dry mortars, building mixes, concrete and concrete products. The addition of metakaolin to concrete can significantly improve the strength of concrete, as well as reduce the shrinkage of concrete during curing.
