Microsilica is a by-product resulting from the production of ferroalloys. Microsilica modifies the mechanical properties of concrete. By replacing 15% of cement with microsilica, the tightness of the concrete is improved several dozen times, which is difficult to achieve using other methods. At the same time the compressive strength increases by 20% and absorption capacity drops to a third.
Concrete composition: Basic components and their role in construction
Metakaolin is an inconspicuous mineral of natural origin that plays a key role in the construction industry. Its unique properties make it a valuable ingredient in the production of concretes, mortars and in many other applications that affect the quality and durability of structures. Metakaolin is a mineral created in the process of dehydrating natural kaolinite at a temperature of 700–800°C.
